Where you'll work

Job description

About the role

This opportunity sits within the broader Bending Spoons group through the WeTransfer brand. Depending on business needs, you may contribute directly to WeTransfer or to another product in the portfolio. The environment is designed for strong collaboration, high ownership, and measurable impact.

Bending Spoons aims to build an exceptional, long-lasting company that serves a large customer base, helps its people grow quickly, operates with remarkable efficiency, creates strong value for shareholders, and maintains high ethical standards. The group acquires digital businesses to run them for the long term, making substantial improvements that accelerate innovation, improve customer outcomes, and boost business performance. Teams are intentionally small, skilled, and low in hierarchy, combining the pace of a startup with the maturity of established products. AI is deeply embedded in day-to-day work so that human judgment and machine intelligence complement each other.

What you will do

  • Own meaningful engineering work end to end, from concept through production, building systems used by millions and developing them at scale.
  • Use AI tools as part of your workflow for design, implementation, testing, and documentation, while keeping quality, reliability, and maintainability high.
  • Work across different technologies and architectures, selecting the right tools for the problem rather than following trends.
  • Handle a broad technical stack, including monoliths, microservices, gRPC, REST, Kubernetes, Docker, Python, and Rust.
  • Continuously reduce unnecessary complexity by improving codebases, architectures, and delivery pipelines so systems become easier to scale and maintain.

What the company is looking for

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with the capacity to tackle complex challenges once the relevant knowledge is in place.
  • Independent reasoning and structured thinking, with attention to the details that matter and resistance to bias.
  • High drive and ambition, backed by initiative, persistence, and a strong sense of ownership.
  • A collaborative mindset that puts the team first, supports good ideas, and contributes wherever needed.
  • Confident English communication skills across reading, writing, and speaking.

What is offered

  • Small, highly capable, entrepreneurial teams with significant autonomy.
  • Excellent growth opportunities, with the chance to take on major responsibilities early in your career.
  • Competitive compensation and access to company equity, with pay varying by location and expected impact.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including flexible hours and remote work.
  • Support for learning and development, plus strong health insurance, relocation support, parental benefits, and an annual retreat.
  • A flexible start date and the option to begin part-time, then move into full-time alongside your studies.

Employment terms

This is a permanent or fixed-term full-time position. Remote work is available in selected countries, and the role can also be based in Milan, London, Madrid, or Warsaw.

Compensation is not a single fixed figure. For candidates with limited experience, the typical annual salary is £85,797 in London and €66,065 elsewhere in Europe. For candidates with considerable relevant experience, the usual range is £112,189 to £250,512 in London and €107,837 to €188,848 elsewhere in Europe. Exceptional candidates may be offered pay above these ranges. Permanent employees may also receive part of their compensation in company equity at a discounted price. If relocating to Italy, a 50% tax reduction may apply.

The hiring process focuses on demonstrated excellence rather than seniority alone. All applicants go through the same process, which may include one or more demanding tests that can take several hours. If you have concerns about experience or an imperfect CV, you are encouraged not to rule yourself out. Reasonable accommodations are available for candidates with disabilities. If you have applied previously without receiving an offer, the guidance is to wait at least one year before reapplying.

The company operates with a high-performance mindset and expects substantial commitment. To help new hires ramp up, it is recommended that the first few months be spent in the Milan office, even if the long-term arrangement is elsewhere. Travel and accommodation support is provided for this period. Afterward, work may continue from the Milan or London offices, or remotely from approved countries, depending on what is agreed at offer stage.

Applications are considered only through the company careers page. This role may remain open for an extended period or be reposted if the right candidate has not yet been found.

There is no stated vacancy count, and no separate education requirement was specified in the source.

Additional information

You do not need to wait until graduation to apply. Part-time arrangements can be used initially and later converted into full-time employment as you complete your degree.

The organization notes that this is a demanding workplace, but one that can deliver exceptional learning, achievement, and career development for people who are excited to perform at a high level.

The location field in the source shows Singapore, but the role details specify Milan, London, Madrid, Warsaw, and remote work in selected countries as the actual working locations.
