Job description
Role Overview
This position is for a Head Bartender at a Marriott property in Auckland, New Zealand. It is a full-time, non-management role within the Food and Beverage & Culinary function, and the work is performed on site.
What You Will Do
- Check the presentation and grooming of team members and correct any issues as needed.
- Coordinate with guests, colleagues, and other departments so customer needs are handled smoothly.
- Make sure the team is working in a cooperative and efficient manner.
- Keep an eye on dining and service areas for seating, safety, service quality, and guest comfort.
- Raise maintenance requests whenever repairs are needed.
- Carry out scheduled stock counts for supplies, food, and liquor.
- Review available inventory and request the items required for upcoming business levels.
- Receive the cash bank assigned to the role, verify contracted amounts, arrange change for expected demand, and safeguard the bank at all times.
- Announce last call at the scheduled closing time.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, rostering, appraisal, coaching, counseling, discipline, and employee motivation.
- Build constructive working relationships and help the team achieve shared goals.
- Follow company policies as well as health, safety, and security procedures.
- Report incidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management and complete required safety training and certifications.
- Keep uniform and personal appearance standards professional and tidy.
- Protect confidential information and company property.
- Welcome guests warmly, recognize their needs in advance, and respond with genuine appreciation.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, including answering phones using proper etiquette.
- Maintain the brand’s quality expectations and service standards.
- Read and verify written information carefully, including small print when required.
- Inspect tools, equipment, and machinery for defects or issues.
- Be able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods or an entire shift.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place items up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Handle objects of different sizes and weights using fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
- Work in narrow, confined, elevated, and stair or ramp areas.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Carry out additional reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.
