This opportunity is for an accomplished, commercially aware Head of People & Culture to steer the people agenda for the Residential Segment within the Water Division. The role is highly influential and requires close partnership with senior leaders to shape and deliver a people strategy that supports business performance, enables growth and strengthens culture.
You will report to the Managing Director for Residential and also have a functional reporting line to the Divisional People & Culture Director. In this position, you will provide strategic leadership across Polypipe Building Products in Doncaster, Manthorpe Building Products in Ripley, Salamander in Sunderland, and Talon in Reading.
You will lead a capable People & Culture team and play an important role in ensuring the businesses have the talent, capability and culture needed to meet their goals.
Key accountabilities
- Create and execute a people plan that supports both business priorities and Group objectives.
- Serve as a trusted adviser to senior leaders on organisational effectiveness, workforce planning and business change.
- Drive talent management, succession planning and leadership development across the segment.
- Strengthen a high-performance culture through effective performance management and employee engagement activity.
- Lead organisational change initiatives and support business growth.
- Promote diversity, equity and inclusion and help build a workplace where colleagues feel respected and supported.
- Provide guidance on complex employee relations matters and help ensure compliance with employment law and internal policies.
- Coach, lead and develop the People & Culture team so they deliver a consistent and high-quality service.

- Extensive background in a senior people leadership role within a complex, multi-site organisation.
- Proven ability to design and implement people strategies that produce measurable business outcomes.
- Experience of leading change, cultural transformation and employee engagement programmes.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance business needs with a people-focused approach.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, including partnering with senior leadership teams.
- Deep employee relations expertise and a solid understanding of UK employment legislation.
- Experience of leading and developing high-performing HR teams.
- CIPD Level 7, or equivalent experience.
