Role Overview

The Hort Coordinator position is a full-time, on-site role based in Berlin. In this role, you will take charge of the after-school care program and ensure that children experience a secure, stimulating, and supportive atmosphere. The job involves planning age-appropriate activities, coordinating and guiding staff, maintaining regular communication with parents, and ensuring that all work follows the relevant rules and internal policies. Working closely with teachers and other colleagues to support students’ overall development is an important part of the role.

Key Duties

  • Manage the after-school care program and keep it running smoothly.
  • Create and carry out activities suited to different age groups.
  • Supervise staff and support day-to-day team coordination.
  • Keep parents informed and maintain constructive communication with families.
  • Work with educators and other school staff to encourage holistic student growth.
  • Ensure the program complies with applicable regulations and school policies.
  • Respond flexibly to the needs of children and the changing demands of the program.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should bring strong planning and leadership abilities, along with experience in organizing educational and recreational activities for children. Good communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills are essential. A solid understanding of child development and the ability to build engaging learning spaces are also important. Fluency in German is required, while additional language skills are considered an advantage. Prior experience in a school or childcare environment is preferred, and relevant education or certifications in teaching, child development, or a similar area are desirable. The ideal candidate will also be committed to creating an inclusive and supportive community.
