Job description

Role overview

A design studio in Adelaide is seeking an Interior Designer with at least 3 years of professional experience. The position is ideal for someone who is strengthening their confidence as a designer and wants to keep developing with the support of an experienced, collaborative team.

The role covers a wide variety of projects and sectors, with involvement in design development, documentation, and construction stages. You will help balance client expectations, functional needs, commercial considerations, and the overall design vision.

The studio is looking for someone inquisitive, engaged, and proactive; a person who aims to understand the brief, communicates effectively, thinks carefully about design decisions, and takes responsibility for their work.

You will join a people-focused culture that encourages initiative, open exchange of ideas, and continuous learning. The role offers space to grow your capability, learn from mentors, and contribute to work that makes a meaningful difference.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience working in an architecture or interior design studio.
  • A Bachelor of Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a comparable qualification.
  • Strong working ability in Revit and AutoCAD, along with solid documentation skills.
  • Experience creating FF&E packages and schedules.
  • Background in supporting projects from design development through to construction.
  • Good communication skills and a cooperative, self-starting approach.
  • Ability to handle daily project tasks and work with minimal supervision.
  • Practical knowledge of the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Exposure to contract administration and construction-stage project delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the creation and delivery of interior spaces that are practical, considered, and visually distinctive.
  • Contribute across the project lifecycle, from design development through construction.
  • Prepare coordinated, accurate, and easy-to-follow documentation, including schedules and specifications.
  • Work closely with project teams, suppliers, and consultants to help achieve strong project outcomes.
  • Assist with FF&E selection and related documentation.
  • Help with construction-phase activities and contract administration tasks.
  • Maintain high standards in design quality, technical resolution, and attention to detail.
  • Take ownership of assigned work and contribute positively to both project delivery and studio culture.

What the studio offers

  • Opportunity to work in a growing, forward-thinking design studio with projects across multiple sectors.
  • Career development support, including an internal mentoring program, a professional development allowance, and regular in-house learning sessions.
  • A competitive salary with structured and regular performance reviews.
  • Wellbeing support through an Organisational Psychologist and access to an Employee Assistance Program.
  • Commitment to environmental, social, and cultural responsibility through a Sustainability Committee, a Reconciliation Action Plan Committee, and a volunteering program that includes paid volunteer time during work hours.
  • Strong industry connections, with opportunities to attend events and participate in professional bodies.
  • Flexible working arrangements may be available.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • An open-plan studio environment located just outside the Adelaide CBD.
