Job description
About the company
Pendulum Therapeutics is focused on improving physical and mental health by studying the human microbiome and developing products that help restore its balance. The company has built proprietary probiotic development pipelines, a discovery platform for identifying bacterial strains and prebiotics, and manufacturing technology that supports oxygen-free bacterial production at scale. Its medical probiotic offerings have helped create a therapeutic probiotic category that combines pharmaceutical-like efficacy with the accessibility and safety of a natural product. The business has seen strong revenue and customer growth and has been recognized by Forbes as one of “The Next Billion Dollar Startups.”
Role overview
Pendulum is hiring an Inventory Planner for a fast-moving, lean, and highly collaborative environment. This role suits someone who is comfortable iterating, incorporating group feedback, and solving problems resourcefully with limited resources. The ideal candidate is energized by a growing mission-driven company and is motivated by the opportunity to help shape an early-stage brand.
What you will do
- Build and manage supply plans by gathering and analyzing data, aligning strategy, and driving purchase order submission while balancing forecast demand, available capacity, and inventory levels.
- Improve replenishment planning by executing inventory replenishment strategies, ensuring purchase orders are processed on time, and identifying ways to reduce cost and improve working capital efficiency.
- Contribute to Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE) by preparing supply review inputs, surfacing key decisions, and helping align sales, marketing, operations, and finance.
- Perform detailed inventory analysis, run scenario planning, and prepare reports and supporting data used in revenue strategy decisions.
- Manage finished goods and component inventory across the warehouse network to support demand from both direct-to-consumer and business-to-business channels.
- Oversee inventory allocation across distribution centers and customer channels, including system-based transfers, adjustments, and other inventory movements.
- Review and reconcile residual probiotic blend inventory after production, incorporate usable residual inventory where appropriate, and maintain clean, accurate inventory records for financial reporting.
- Communicate low-stock and out-of-stock situations promptly so cross-functional teams can take action and reduce lost sales risk.
- Support rollout of supply chain planning software by defining requirements, helping with onboarding, and ensuring the system supports inventory optimization and user adoption.
- Create and lead the excess and obsolete inventory process for finished goods, including a structured cross-functional review approach and disposition planning.
- Analyze supply chain data to identify trends, forecast issues, and supply risks, then develop mitigation actions and provide weekly updates to executive leadership.
- Continuously improve supply planning processes by using data, technology, and system capabilities to increase efficiency, accuracy, and decision quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or quantitative field is required; equivalent experience in supply chain analytics, supply planning, or operations modeling is strongly preferred.
- A degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Applied Statistics with an operations and optimization focus is especially preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in inventory management or a related supply chain function such as inventory planning, merchandise planning, procurement, analytics, project management, or consulting.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders across functions and drive complex projects from start to finish.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems; NetSuite experience is highly preferred, and you should be able to learn new systems quickly.
- Strong attention to detail, advanced math ability, and solid Excel skills, with intermediate to advanced spreadsheet modeling experience in Google Sheets.
- Comfort with analyzing information systematically and making data-driven decisions.
- A continuous-improvement mindset with the initiative to spot efficiency opportunities and the confidence to act on them.
- Adaptability in a fast-changing startup environment.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, strong ownership, resourcefulness, organization, and a bias toward action.
- Ability to manage deadlines while maintaining quality.
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and a collaborative team approach.
Benefits and compensation
The compensation range for this role is $85,000 to $95,000 annually. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, commuter benefits, life and short-term disability insurance, a company 401(k) match, flexible time off, and equity.
