IT Business Analyst (Oil and Gas)

Role Overview

Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP is hiring an IT Business Analyst for its Engineering, AI & Data team in Mumbai. The position is focused on the Oil and Gas domain and involves bridging business needs with technology solutions.

Profile Summary

This role calls for a professional with 3 to 8 years of experience and a strong background in business analysis, particularly across Oil and Gas projects. The successful candidate should hold a B.Tech/BE in CS/IT, or a full-time B.Tech plus MBA.

What You Will Do

• Identify business challenges, the drivers behind value creation, and both functional and non-functional needs, then convert them into workable solution requirements.
• Evaluate risk, feasibility, opportunity, and business impact, while analyzing processes, data movement, and technology to understand the present state and find areas for improvement.
• Prepare and maintain precise requirement documentation throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring requirements remain traceable from business need through testing, change control, and final delivery.
• Work closely with software vendors, designers, and developers to understand platform constraints, contribute to system and database design inputs, and make sure business use cases are supported.
• Configure and document software and operational processes using approved standards and tools, define acceptance criteria, and support solution validation through planned and coordinated testing.
• Develop and present business cases that demonstrate solution value and support decisions around approval, funding, and prioritization.
• Plan, run, monitor, and control business analysis activities within agreed cost, schedule, and quality parameters.
• Lead stakeholder engagement efforts and facilitate large design workshops.
• Guide teams in completing business analysis work across projects, including configuration, documentation, and testing coordination.

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong exposure to the Oil and Gas industry.
• Hands-on experience working in Agile project environments.
• Working knowledge of Agile frameworks and related tools, along with the ability to coach stakeholders, Product Owners, and business partners on Agile practices.
• Understanding of systems engineering concepts, data and process analysis, and product/solution modelling.

Preferred Qualifications

• Agile certifications or formal Agile training are preferred.
• CBAP or PMI-PBA certification is preferred.
• Lean Practitioner training and practical exposure would be an advantage.
