Japanese Language Specialist - IT Applications

Role overview

This role is for a Custom Software Engineer who can work effectively in Japanese and support application delivery for business needs. The position involves designing, building, configuring, testing, and deploying applications, while acting as a communication bridge between technical teams and Japanese-speaking stakeholders. Experience with COBOL mainframe systems is an advantage.

Key responsibilities

• Work with cross-functional teams to clarify business needs and application expectations.
• Convert technical material, user requirements, and business inputs between Japanese and English.
• Take part in application design, development, configuration, testing, and release activities.
• Help diagnose problems, fix defects, and support application issue resolution.
• Join project discussions and support communication with Japanese stakeholders.
• Prepare documentation for workflows, application procedures, and technical details.
• Follow established software engineering standards and best practices.
• Keep learning new technologies and build stronger domain expertise over time.

Required profile

• Strong command of Japanese, with JLPT certification preferred.
• Good written and spoken communication in both Japanese and English.
• Prior involvement in IT projects with Japanese stakeholders.
• Understanding of software development life cycle methods and practices.
• Ability to work on your own while also contributing well in a team setting.
• Exposure to COBOL and mainframe environments is preferred.
• Familiarity with application support, incident handling, and change management is an added plus.
• Strong analytical thinking, stakeholder handling, adaptability, and interpersonal skills.

Any graduate can apply. The role also specifies 15 years of full-time education and 3 to 6 years of experience.
