About The Role

Mondu, a leading B2B payments provider, is expanding its operations and seeking a Risk Operations Analyst to join its dynamic Risk Management department in Berlin. This role is crucial for safeguarding financial stability and ensuring robust credit risk management practices. The analyst will be instrumental in assessing, analyzing, and managing credit risks. This is a high-impact position for a structured, operational problem solver who thrives on daily workflows and desires to see their insights translate into real-time product enhancements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily assessments of merchant and buyer creditworthiness to ensure sound credit risk management.
  • Provide timely support for ad-hoc requests from internal and external stakeholders, resolving commercial queries with strong business acumen.
  • Utilize SQL and Python/R to extract and analyze data, identifying key trends in borrower behavior and macroeconomic shifts.
  • Lead strategic decision-making processes for high-value transactions.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to refine underwriting policies and scorecards, balancing conversion rates with risk mitigation.

Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, or Data Science.
  • Demonstrate strong technical proficiency in SQL for querying large databases.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools, preferably Metabase or similar platforms.
  • Possess foundational knowledge of Python or R for data manipulation tasks.
  • Have at least one year of relevant experience, including internships, in a credit or financial analyst capacity.
  • Exhibit a solid understanding of factoring, credit risk, or related financial functions.
  • Apply business acumen to effectively address daily queries from commercial teams.
  • Be comfortable managing repetitive tasks and workflows, with a focus on continuous learning and growth.
  • Maintain an inquisitive mindset and a keen interest in learning new methodologies and AI tools.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement across the organization.
  • Demonstrate ambition, curiosity, resilience, and a proactive, solution-oriented attitude.
  • Thrive in fast-paced, dynamic team environments where change is constant.
  • Previous experience in banking or finance, and familiarity with company financial statements, would be advantageous.
