Role overview

PepsiCo is hiring a Maintenance Shift Associate Supervisor for its Little Island site in Cork on a fixed-term basis of one year. The position sits within the maintenance team and is focused on keeping production equipment and site systems running efficiently across a 24/5 operation, with some systems operating continuously throughout the week.

The role is centered on delivering the site’s maintenance plan and related strategies. It involves overseeing preventive maintenance, responding to breakdowns on mechanical, electrical, and robotic systems, and supporting software-related equipment issues to help protect uptime and output for concentrate production.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning and execution of reactive maintenance, preventive maintenance, and statutory compliance activities across shifts.
  • Lead the shift maintenance team in resolving day-to-day equipment and system faults so production interruptions are kept to a minimum.
  • Support the site’s continuous improvement efforts by taking part in technical initiatives and team-based improvement activities.
  • Coordinate frontline craft teams and external contractors or vendors for maintenance work on plant equipment and facilities.
  • Review and approve method statements, risk assessments, lockout/tagout controls, work permits, and service reports as needed.
  • Work closely with production teams to monitor equipment availability, machine uptime, and performance using data and maintenance metrics.
  • Drive the preventive maintenance program and keep the maintenance system current based on functional KPI targets.
  • Provide leadership on maintenance, repair, modification, improvement projects, installation, and testing of plant and automation equipment.
  • Allocate work across the team and make sure assigned tasks are completed on time.
  • Offer technical support for daily operational issues, including managing a high volume of calls and requests.
  • Support root cause analysis, major breakdown investigations, reliability-centered maintenance, and accurate shift handover reporting.
  • Prepare detailed shift handover updates and align with the incoming shift on priorities and potential risks.
  • Assist with project and equipment handovers, ensuring new assets are entered into CMMS and work tasks are created according to site and vendor guidance.
  • Contribute to daily and weekly shift meetings and broader site initiatives in a 24/5 operating environment.
  • Promote health, safety, and quality standards by leading the team in line with site H&S and quality expectations.
  • Ensure the weekly maintenance plan is delivered and monthly maintenance KPI requirements are met.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of technical experience in a manufacturing setting, including substantial people management experience with frontline unionised staff.
  • Experience managing the ordering of supplies, services, and spare parts.
  • Good working knowledge of plant and facilities technologies.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
  • Ability to interpret service reports and statutory compliance needs while balancing multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in line with HSE requirements and contributing to safety reviews, risk assessments, and other compliance checks.
  • Exposure to PLC and SCADA control systems is an advantage.
  • Experience with fire alarm and fire protection systems is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of air handling and HVAC systems is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with boiler and compressed air systems is an advantage.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system, such as SAP PM, is an advantage.
