About Workday

Workday is a Fortune 500 company and a leading AI-powered platform that helps organizations manage people, money, and agents. The company focuses on turning hard work into meaningful outcomes for employees, customers, and the broader world. Its culture is built around integrity, empathy, collaboration, and optimism, with a strong emphasis on trust, growth, and long-term support for its teams.

About the Team

The accounting team is focused on improving operational efficiency through smarter systems and process automation. Team members are encouraged to learn across functions so they can expand their knowledge and stay motivated.

About the Role

Workday is looking for an Accounting Manager who is eager to contribute to a growing organization. The ideal candidate is self-driven, communicates clearly, and works well with people from varied backgrounds in a fast-moving, ambitious environment. This position reports to the Director of Corporate Accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of 4 to 6 accounting professionals.
  • Own several important areas of the global month-end close process, including bank reconciliations, prepaid expense reviews, expense accruals, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Assist with balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analysis after period-end close.
  • Work closely with Treasury, FP&A, and Accounts Payable to ensure transactions are recorded correctly.
  • Support external audits and reviews by preparing and delivering supporting schedules on time for auditors.
  • Develop and revise standard operating procedures for business processes as needed.
  • Encourage continuous improvement and operational innovation while regularly discussing accounting topics with business owners and management.
  • Coach and develop accounting team members to help them grow professionally and reach their potential.
  • Handle ad hoc analysis and special projects requested by different business partners.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or a degree with a strong accounting focus.
  • Strong command of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • At least 8 years of accounting experience; experience in a publicly traded company is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of people leadership or managerial experience.
  • Experience working with a large ERP system.
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong commitment to quality and excellence.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth business environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working under tight deadlines and delivering on time.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Flexible Work Model

Workday follows a Flex Work approach that blends office time with remote flexibility. Teams are expected to spend at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, and partners, depending on the role. This structure is designed to support strong collaboration, community, and flexibility. Remote home-office roles may also meet in offices for key in-person moments.

Accessibility and Privacy

Workday is committed to an inclusive and accessible hiring process. Candidates who need assistance or accommodation during any stage of hiring can reach out for support. The company also emphasizes privacy and data security, and it does not ask candidates to apply through non-Workday careers websites or pay recruiting, coaching, or consulting fees to apply.
