Position Details
We are seeking a STEM Computational Scientific Software & Evaluation Design specialist with a focus on Structural & Mechanical Engineering. This is a contract role requiring 15–20 hours per week, fully remote, with a compensation range of $70–$100 per hour.
Role Responsibilities
- Develop graduate-level computational challenges utilizing domain-specific scientific software libraries.
- Create problems that necessitate strategic reasoning to uncover concealed information through queries or experimental designs.
- Calibrate designed tasks against advanced AI models and refine them to achieve specific difficulty levels.
- Employ libraries such as scikit-fem or equivalent finite element tools for Structural & Mechanical Engineering tasks.
- Operate autonomously within a Linux/terminal environment, utilizing remote compute sandboxes.
- Engage in asynchronous collaboration to enhance AI model performance and problem-solving methodologies.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- Completed graduate-level training in a relevant STEM field (e.g., MS, PhD, or equivalent research experience).
- Demonstrated proficiency with at least one specified scientific software library.
- Strong command of Python programming.
- Capacity to work independently and refine problem designs iteratively.
- Comfort and familiarity with a Linux/terminal operating system.
Preferred
- Experience across multiple relevant domains or tools.
- Prior experience with benchmark or evaluation design.
- A background in scientific pedagogy or the design of exams/problem sets.
- Experience with ensuring computational reproducibility and utilizing containerized environments.
