About the Institution
Seward County Community College is a two-year college that offers 45 fields of study, including Adult Basic Education, certificate options, and associate degrees in Arts, Science, General Studies, and Applied Sciences. The college is recognized by the Aspen Institute as being in the top 5% of more than 1,100 accredited community colleges in the United States. It supports a student population of more than 2,500 learners, ages 15 to 85, across a rural service region of about 50,997 residents spanning seven southwest Kansas counties, along with nearby counties in southeastern Colorado and the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles.
Role Overview
The college is seeking an online adjunct faculty member to deliver instruction in one or more of the following areas: Nutrition, Developmental Psychology, Public Speaking, College Algebra, Principles of Biology, and Economics. The role requires engaging a culturally varied student population and using effective teaching methods to support strong learning outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses using instructional approaches that support student learning and class engagement.
- Review, record, and interpret assessment data to support course, program, and institutional outcomes.
- Contribute to non-teaching duties such as academic advising, student recruitment, committee work, and professional or community service.
- Support institutional assessment and accreditation efforts.
- Carry out the expectations associated with the role of a college student at Seward County Community College.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold a master’s degree in the teaching discipline, or a master’s degree in another subject with at least 18 completed graduate credit hours in the subject they wish to teach. Candidates should also have 2 to 5 years of relevant or comparable experience. Both online and in-person adjunct instructors are needed.

The position is open until filled, and the intended start date is ASAP. Applicants must submit a completed and signed college application, clearly stating the discipline they wish to teach, along with a cover letter, a resume that includes contact details for three professional references, and transcripts from post-secondary education. Copies of transcripts are acceptable for application review. If hired, official transcripts must be submitted within 30 days. Foreign transcripts must be translated and evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
Additional Requirements
A criminal background check is required before employment begins. Separate applications are needed for any additional or future openings. Selection Process
The search committee will review applicants against the stated minimum qualifications and may limit the number of interviews. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee an interview. Selected candidates will be informed of the interview schedule and location, and interviews are generally conducted on campus. Further interviews and/or teaching demonstrations may also be requested.
