About the Role
This position sits within RTX’s aerospace and defense ecosystem, where Collins Aerospace delivers advanced, technology-led solutions for the global market. The role is focused on leading a manufacturing cell to support quality, delivery performance, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide and oversee manufacturing technicians so the cell meets quality standards and delivery timelines.
- Track and manage the cell’s daily output targets, efficiency levels, and productivity performance.
- Review overdue work and current workload, then forecast demand 3 to 6 months ahead to shape part scheduling and material release plans.
- Make sure operators follow TPM requirements to support maximum machine availability.
- Coordinate planning, implementation, evaluation, and issue resolution within the assigned area.
- Handle discipline, attendance, safety, and quality matters for manufacturing technicians.
- Organize, direct, monitor, and assess workflow in the cell.
- Spot opportunities to improve operational effectiveness and recommend practical enhancements.
- Train, mentor, and develop technicians while setting clear expectations and managing performance.
- Prepare analysis and presentations for leadership when requested.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the manager.
Requirements
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Aeronautical Engineering, along with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a precision engineering setting.
- Availability to work bi-monthly rotating shifts.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing methods and process control principles.
- Solid problem-solving ability, plus experience coaching and mentoring team members.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A collaborative mindset and a positive, can-do approach.
- Understanding of core management practices such as scheduling, prioritization, coaching, and process execution.
- Specialized knowledge of technical or operational practices is expected.
- Qualification expectation: a university degree or equivalent experience with at least 5 years of relevant prior experience, or an advanced degree in a related discipline with at least 3 years of experience.
- For engineering or other technical positions, a STEM degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience are typically required.
