Job description

Role Overview

Amazon is hiring experienced Operations Managers for its Customer Fulfillment team at the Ravenhall Fulfillment Center in Victoria, Australia. This role sits within the AU Fulfillment Center leadership group during a period of growth and scaling, giving you the chance to help define workflow design and establish reliable operating routines as the site expands.

As an Operations Manager, you will provide energetic and inclusive leadership to the teams under your guidance while remaining ready to step in and support work on the floor when needed. You will oversee Area Managers and their direct reports and will report to the Site Lead of the fulfillment center. Success in this position depends heavily on your ability to lead people well, motivate teams, and balance workforce planning with business priorities.

You will also play a major part in process improvement work, helping simplify operations and improve efficiency for both your own team and the wider site. Ideas developed in this role may be adopted across the broader Amazon operations network.

There are openings for both day and night shifts. The working pattern follows four days on and three days off.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote strong health and safety practices and help build a positive safety culture within your area of responsibility.
  • Develop deep expertise in selected large-scale fulfillment center processes and activities.
  • Manage inventory control and systems-related tasks, including timely data gathering and hourly updates of operations metrics.
  • Drive productivity, lower cost per unit, reduce errors, and support a consistently high customer experience.
  • Coordinate with support functions such as HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety and Security, and IT to manage staffing, schedules, and performance expectations.
  • Support process change efforts and take part in cross-functional Six Sigma initiatives within the site and across the wider Amazon operations network.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Proven background in building and leading large, high-performing teams.
  • Experience managing employee performance and handling people-related management responsibilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences as well as senior leaders.
  • Professional experience in operational logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, transportation, general management, or engineering.
  • Ability to use data and analytical tools such as Excel to perform root-cause analysis and support business decisions.
  • Flexibility to work at least one day on the weekend.

Preferred Background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and clear communication skills.
  • Experience overseeing contingent labor in a business that operates through peak seasons.
  • Background in performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean methods.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma concepts.
