Parametric Modeler – FreeCAD

Role overview

This contract role is for a parametric modeling specialist who can work entirely remotely. The assignment focuses on building production-ready 3D CAD and BIM deliverables in FreeCAD, with an hourly compensation range of $30 to $120 and a weekly commitment of 10 to 40 hours.

What you will do

• Take ownership of end-to-end parametric modeling assignments in FreeCAD, starting from early concept work through to final deliverables.
• Create, coordinate, and document BIM-based building models using IFC standards, including core elements such as walls, slabs, and structural components.
• Handle IFC import, export, and validation so models remain compatible across different CAD and BIM tools.
• Build and maintain constrained sketches, parametric model hierarchies, and building components across the full project timeline.
• Produce detailed documentation packages, including technical drawings and model files exported in STEP, STL, DXF, and IFC formats.
• Explain modeling approaches, BIM organization decisions, and interoperability tradeoffs clearly through written notes and recorded verbal updates.

What we are looking for

• Advanced-level FreeCAD expertise backed by a portfolio that shows completed, complex work.
• Direct experience running full parametric 3D CAD projects in FreeCAD from concept development to production output.
• Strong working knowledge of BIM practices and IFC specifications, including relevant FreeCAD workbenches.
• Practical experience with building components, model organization, and data handling for multi-platform interoperability.
• Comfort using AutoCAD, CAM tools, and other 3D CAD software environments.

This is a remote contract position based in the United Kingdom. The role requires a commitment of 10 to 40 hours per week.
