Role overview
A well-established and expanding financial planning business in Cardiff is looking for an experienced Paraplanner to join its technical support team. The role sits within a collaborative environment and works closely with Financial Advisers to help deliver strong client outcomes, while also offering genuine prospects for career growth.
What you will do
In this position, you will be part of the back-office function and will support advisers with technical research, report preparation, and adherence to regulatory standards. The role provides a good level of autonomy and allows you to make a meaningful contribution to the firm’s ongoing success.
- Get client files ready for adviser meetings and make sure all paperwork satisfies regulatory expectations.
- Research financial products in detail and help identify appropriate solutions.
- Use financial planning tools to evaluate risk, suitability, and market choices.
- Draft and organise suitability reports for adviser review.
- Work with advisers and management to support client case activity.
- Follow all compliance processes and keep records accurate and up to date.
- Review risks and opportunities within both new and existing client cases.
Experience and knowledge
Applicants should have prior paraplanning experience within an IFA setting. Strong technical understanding is needed across pensions, investments, inheritance tax, estate planning, trusts, and protection. A solid grasp of FCA rules and how they apply in practice is also important. Experience with financial planning and research systems such as Intelligent Office, FE Analytics, CashCalc, and Iress would be beneficial. The role calls for strong analytical ability, careful attention to detail, and clear written and spoken communication. You should be able to handle deadlines effectively, work independently, and contribute well within a team.
Qualifications
A Level 4 Diploma is preferred, or you should be actively working towards one.
