Job description

About the employer

Calian has been helping organizations navigate complex challenges, reduce risk, and move forward since 1982. What began as a small consulting business has evolved into a global organization serving defence, space, health, nuclear energy, public safety, and government sectors.

The company focuses on practical, innovative solutions that support resilience, connection, and informed decision-making. If you are purpose-driven and motivated by solving real-world problems, this role may be a strong fit.

Role summary

Calian is hiring a Physiotherapist for the Canadian Forces Health Services Centre at CFB Gagetown, New Brunswick. The role involves delivering consultation, assessment, and treatment services within a collaborative care model. You will work both from the physiotherapy unit, handling booked appointments and walk-ins, and from the Care Delivery Unit through sick parade and consultation support.

The patient population is typically highly active and committed to recovery, allowing for meaningful rehabilitation work with sufficient time for assessment and treatment. The clinic environment is team-oriented, clinically comprehensive, and grounded in evidence-based care, manual therapy, and exercise-based rehabilitation.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide physiotherapy and rehabilitation care using evidence-based methods and in line with professional regulations and scope of practice.
  • Manage a full caseload focused on orthopedics.
  • Assess and treat neuro-musculoskeletal issues, especially those related to sport, training, work-related injuries, and accidents.
  • Explain procedures clearly and obtain documented informed consent before assessment or treatment.
  • Conduct screening assessments, provide education, and recommend orthoses in direct-access situations such as CDU walk-ins.
  • Design and prescribe exercise plans that support recovery, injury prevention, and fitness.
  • Apply manual therapy and soft-tissue techniques for musculoskeletal, scar tissue, muscular, circulatory, and lymphatic conditions.
  • Use pain-management approaches, which may include acupuncture/needling below the dermis.
  • Deliver ergonomics guidance, including workplace assessments on site.
  • Educate patients and health team members on topics such as injury prevention and health promotion.
  • Help develop and deliver clinic programs that support education and rehabilitation, including proprioceptive rehab, reintegration, and back-pain self-management.
  • Support ongoing patient management through interdisciplinary case discussions, clinical rounds, patient conferences, and follow-up scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Active registration in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of New Brunswick.
  • One of the following advanced credentials: Manual Therapy Level 2, Mackenzie Part B, or Acupuncture/Dry Needling certification.
  • A valid Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support certificate for Healthcare Providers, or an equivalent such as CPR/AED Level C.
  • At least 3 years of experience in orthopedics or sports medicine.

Additional requirements

  • Ability to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Enhanced level.
  • A security clearance and/or vulnerable sector screening may also be required.
  • The recruiter will explain the clearance requirements and process during recruitment.

Working conditions

  • Full-time position.
  • Onsite role in Gagetown/Oromocto, New Brunswick.
  • Weekday schedule from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • No evening or weekend shifts.
  • No billing or marketing duties; the focus is entirely on patient care.

Benefits

  • Patient-centered practice with strong emphasis on evidence-based rehabilitation and active treatment.
  • Access to extensive resources for patient care.
  • Spacious treatment rooms and facilities.
  • Highly motivated patient population.
  • Collaborative multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Access to on-base and in-house exercise programming, gym equipment, custom bracing/orthotics, and specialized military equipment.
  • Comprehensive health and dental coverage for eligible full-time employees.
