Job description

Role Overview

The Procurement Director will lead regional procurement efforts for APAC from Singapore, reporting to the Managing Director of SICK Singapore and the Product Center Asia, and functionally to the SVP Group Procurement. The role is focused on driving strategic cost control, building long-term commodity strategies, and creating a supply chain that remains resilient and adaptable as business needs change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Head and strengthen the regional procurement function, improving supplier quality and commercial terms while advancing innovation, digital adoption, and overall procurement performance in coordination with the global procurement organization.
  • Deliver regional procurement programs on time, including projects tied to new product introduction cost optimization, cost and value analysis, materials sourcing, component localization, supplier quality, and indirect spend management.
  • Build and maintain a dependable supplier network that balances cost, quality, and delivery reliability to support APAC business and manufacturing operations.
  • Define and execute commodity strategies that sustain cost containment, enhance supplier performance, reduce supply risk, and support customer expectations through supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee operating expenses and service deliveries for Asian SICK sites, with direct accountability for indirect spend.
  • Represent the organization professionally with customers and vendors in line with the standards of a global, high-performing company.
  • Develop the capability of team managers and team members so the function delivers strong performance and business results.
  • Identify and encourage adoption of emerging technologies and supplier innovations that can improve product development, reduce costs, and strengthen performance.
  • Ensure all external suppliers in the region meet ESG expectations and standards.
  • Work closely with corporate procurement and other regional teams, including China, to define and execute procurement, category, and supplier strategies.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, along with at least 10 years of procurement and supply chain experience in a global manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership strength with a strong record in senior management or equivalent high-responsibility roles.
  • Proven ability in strategic procurement planning and in supporting business growth through procurement.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and people skills, with the confidence to engage senior leaders and stakeholders across multiple countries.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building ability, with the flexibility to work effectively with diverse teams and personalities.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills for handling complex decision-making situations.
  • Deep knowledge of supply chain and procurement management, especially across electronic, cable, and metal commodities and related industries.
  • Strong commercial understanding and the ability to align sourcing and supply chain decisions with business objectives.
  • A proactive mindset for spotting and resolving supply chain challenges before they escalate.
  • Willingness to travel within Asia as needed.
