About the role
This position is a pivotal one for a proactive procurement professional who can oversee the complete sourcing cycle, drive cost efficiency, and keep supply chains running smoothly across a varied business environment that includes mining, fuels, trading, and logistics.
The ideal hire will combine practical procurement expertise with strong project management capability to coordinate demanding buying processes, manage significant supplier agreements, and help maintain uninterrupted operations across several fast-moving business units.
Key responsibilities
- Handle strategic sourcing and category management for essential purchases such as fuel products, mining-related spares and consumables, PPE, commodities, and logistics equipment.
- Take ownership of procurement timelines for operational projects, from budgeting and scoping through to final delivery, while ensuring smooth coordination across sites.
- Develop and manage a qualified supplier base, then negotiate pricing, credit arrangements, and SLAs that support savings and value for money.
- Work closely with operations and stores teams to track inventory, manage fast-moving stock, and reduce the risk of shortages or interruptions to operations.
- Keep procurement spending aligned with approved budgets, monitor movement in fuel and commodity prices, and maintain clear, fully auditable compliance records.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a similar discipline is required.
- A professional qualification such as CIPS is strongly preferred.
- The role calls for 4 to 6 years of solid experience in procurement and supply chain functions.
- Direct background in mining, fuel or energy, commodities trading, or logistics is mandatory.
- Demonstrated use of structured project management methods to coordinate transport, sourcing workflows, and multi-sector logistics activities is necessary.
- Strong financial understanding is needed, along with capability in cost analysis, advanced Excel reporting, and ERP tools such as SAP or Sage.
Additional information
The role reports to the Finance Manager, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Group CEO.
Salary range: ZMW 15,000 to 18,000.
