Job description

Role overview

Lightship is building the first all-electric recreational vehicle made in the United States, with an aerodynamic, battery-powered trailer designed for the electric era. The company is focused on improving the RV experience for millions of American families while the shift toward fully electric transportation continues to accelerate.

Work environment

Lightship values a workplace shaped by different perspectives and backgrounds. The team operates in a collaborative setting with a flat structure, and people are expected to bring integrity, independence, and creativity to their work.

What this role involves

As a Procurement Specialist, you will oversee the purchase of goods and services for Lightship. The position supports the goal of securing high-quality materials and services at competitive prices while following internal procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements. You will report to the Global Supply Chain Manager and carry out procurement plans under their direction.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with international suppliers so quality remains consistent and deliveries stay on schedule.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to share supply chain input that helps product development move quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
  • Review supply chain performance regularly and look for ways to improve efficiency, shorten lead times, and lower costs.
  • Track procurement and supply chain spend, and identify opportunities to reduce supplier-related costs.
  • Spot process gaps and introduce improvements that support a smoother and more effective supply chain.
  • Evaluate supply chain risks and help protect business continuity through proactive planning.
  • Use data analysis to support decisions and strengthen strategic initiatives.

Minimum qualifications

  • At least 2 years of supply chain experience, including supplier relationship management and sourcing knowledge, or an equivalent background.
  • Strong ability to think analytically, plan strategically, and solve problems effectively.
  • Practical knowledge of ERP systems, including creating purchase orders, recording item receipts, updating inventory and vendor records, and making inventory adjustments with the correct financial details.
  • Experience developing relationships with both new and existing supplier networks.
  • Ability to manage priorities while handling multiple tasks at once.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Experience planning and carrying out logistics for supplier shipments.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, along with basic familiarity with manufacturing process controls and quality assurance.
  • Exposure to nondisclosure agreements, general terms and conditions, piece price agreements, and similar contracts is a plus.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite ERP, Jira, Confluence, and Google Workspace is preferred.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving environment with limited supervision.

Compensation

Lightship’s compensation package includes annual salary plus equity, giving you an ownership stake in the company.

Work schedule and location

This is a hybrid position. Team members are expected onsite at the office on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Tuesday and Friday are optional work-from-home days.

Benefits for full-time employees

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Flexible paid time off with encouragement to actually use it.
  • 13 company holidays, including 8 spread across the year plus a scheduled year-end shutdown week.
  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave.
  • Annual LightTrip stipend for an RV trip and/or professional development.

Additional benefit note

Full-time employees and their dependents receive complete health, dental, and vision insurance coverage. Lightship says this is part of its mission to ensure employees do not have to worry about healthcare while helping build the all-electric RV experience.
