About Us

Sleepyhead, a 100% Kiwi-owned and operated business with over 90 years of history, is dedicated to enhancing the sleep quality of New Zealanders. As part of The Comfort Group, Australasia's largest bedding and foam manufacturer, we operate multiple facilities and are guided by strong family values. Our team is our greatest asset, with many long-serving employees.

About The Role

Join our dynamic bedding production team at the Otahuhu site. This hands-on role involves a variety of tasks, from managing raw materials to operating specialized machinery used in bedding manufacturing. You will have the opportunity to rotate through different work centers, including mattress assembly, sewing, quilting, base construction, upholstery, packing, and spring line operations. Comprehensive training will be provided, with the potential to develop multi-skilled capabilities across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute manual production tasks and operate machinery in compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Adhere strictly to operational and safety protocols for all production activities.
  • Verify that raw materials and finished products meet stringent quality specifications.
  • Conduct quality checks and maintain accurate production records.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to foster a safe, productive, and positive work environment.
  • Comply with job rotation schedules and uphold high standards of workplace cleanliness.
  • Promptly report any hazards, equipment malfunctions, or non-conformances.
  • Engage in continuous training and contribute to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) improvement initiatives.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

About You

We are looking for motivated, dependable individuals who thrive in a hands-on manufacturing setting, prioritize safety, and are eager to learn and advance. Ideal candidates will be:

  • Comfortable with physically demanding tasks and manual handling.
  • Demonstrate reliability and punctuality.
  • Possess a positive attitude and strong team-playing abilities.
  • Exhibit a firm commitment to safety and quality assurance.
  • Be willing to learn and adapt to various production areas.
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous manufacturing experience is beneficial but not required.
  • A forklift license is advantageous for certain roles.

On Offer

We provide a supportive and friendly team environment with comprehensive training and ongoing skill development. Benefits include:

  • A supportive team atmosphere.
  • Full training and continuous skill enhancement.
  • Subsidized cafeteria services.
  • Convenient onsite parking.
  • Employee discounts on products.

Safety First

Our commitment to a safe and respectful workplace is paramount. All employees are expected to strictly follow safety procedures, utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and actively contribute to a positive team culture.
