What you will do
The Production Operator/Material Handler works across several production technologies and supports multiple lines by operating equipment, handling batch processes, and using powered industrial vehicles where needed. This role is part of a team environment where assignments and shifts may change based on business needs.
- Learn to run, monitor, and physically or systemically adjust different types of equipment, from basic to advanced, including filling, labeling, packaging, and palletizing machinery.
- Maintain clear and accurate system records and apply Lean principles in day-to-day work.
- Follow standard operating methods and decide on the right corrective action when equipment settings need adjustment or malfunctions occur.
- Lead and support problem-solving activities and loss-reduction teams.
- Build technical skill in cleaning, inspecting, lubricating, identifying abnormalities, and carrying out autonomous and planned maintenance tasks, including setting centerlines.
- Move between functions within the plant as needed, including production lines, material handling/warehouse, and processing areas.
- Put safety first by following all safety rules, guidelines, and behavioral safety practices.
- Use quality tools, tests, and audits to confirm products meet or exceed required standards and follow good manufacturing practices.
- Work effectively both independently and in group settings, and contribute to team discussions, decisions, and performance reviews.
- Show ownership, willingness to learn and teach others, strong attention to detail, and a dependable work ethic.
What you should bring
- Grade 12 completion or an equivalent level of education.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with equipment.
- Availability to work all shifts, including afternoons, nights, and continental shift schedules.
- Experience in material handling, along with prior lift truck certification.
- Ability to handle tasks of varying complexity and work through problems effectively.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision when required.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- A process-driven mindset and strong critical thinking ability.
- 1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience.
- Exposure to a Lean manufacturing environment.
- GMP knowledge is considered an advantage.
- Physical ability to meet job demands, including lifting up to 40 pounds and standing, sitting, walking, bending, climbing stairs, kneeling, reaching overhead, pushing, and pulling for 8 to 12 hours per day.
Compensation and benefits
The expected base pay for this role is 27.01 CAD per hour. Actual starting pay will depend on relevant skills, experience, education, and location. Depending on job level, eligibility, and performance, the overall rewards package may also include profit sharing, short-term incentives, and/or long-term incentives.
