Role overview
Amcor Flexibles Sligo is looking for an experienced Production Planner to join its Supply Chain team in Sligo, Ireland. This is an on-site, full-time employee role focused on aligning customer demand with available manufacturing capacity so that highly regulated flexible packaging products are delivered on time. The position reports to the Supply Chain Manager and plays a key part in building stable, efficient production plans across daily, weekly, and monthly horizons.
The role requires close coordination with operations, quality, procurement, customer service, engineering, and project teams to keep production flowing smoothly, support short-term delivery targets, and contribute to longer-term business goals.

Key responsibilities
- Follow all site safety procedures carefully and immediately report any hazards, risks, or incidents.
- Partner with internal teams and stakeholders to help the site achieve operational objectives.
- Build and coordinate advanced production schedules on daily, weekly, and monthly cycles to support DIFOT goals.
- Assess customer demand against plant capacity and adjust plans for material changes, labour constraints, or equipment downtime.
- Prepare regular reporting on plan adherence, capacity status, and weekly/monthly DIFOT loss analysis.
- Track production performance and revise schedules quickly when disruptions occur, using scenario-based planning to reduce losses.
- Work with purchasing, warehousing, and logistics teams to maintain JIT material flow and reduce excess raw material and finished goods inventory.
- Support the introduction of new products into live production without interrupting operations.
- Keep accurate records of planning decisions, schedule changes, and technical issues.
- Assist with local inventory monitoring and other supply-level control activities as needed.
- Help operations and shop-floor teams ensure the approved production schedule is followed.
- Serve as the main site contact for questions related to production planning and scheduling.
- Complete other operational or project-based tasks assigned by the Supply Chain Manager or site leadership.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, operations management, supply chain, or a closely related discipline.
- Between 3 and 5 years of experience in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
- Sound understanding of production planning and scheduling fundamentals.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet demanding deadlines.
- Strong forward planning skills and a proactive approach to day-to-day execution.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Good cross-cultural awareness and the ability to communicate effectively in a global organisation.
- Reliable, trustworthy, adaptable, and eager to learn.
- Excellent organisation, multitasking, and prioritisation skills.
- High proficiency with MS Office tools, especially Excel and MS Project, plus Power BI.
- Practical experience using ERP or SAP systems.
- Ability to build cooperative working relationships across plant and corporate teams.
- Strong attention to detail while working to tight deadlines.
- Interest in continuous improvement and identifying process bottlenecks.
