Job description

About the Company

Cognite works at the cutting edge of industrial digitalization, delivering AI and data-driven solutions for complex, high-value problems across global industry. Its platform brings together industrial expertise and advanced AI, including low-code AI agents, to speed up digital transformation and improve operations.

The company’s long-term ambition is to unlock $100B in customer value by 2035 and help reshape how industrial businesses operate worldwide.

Role Overview

This role is for a Project Manager who will take full ownership of high-priority industrial AI implementation programs. From contract signature through deployment and value realization, you will be accountable for delivery, customer outcomes, and financial performance.

The position calls for a person who thrives in demanding environments, acts with urgency, and approaches challenges as opportunities to move forward. You will work closely with customers and internal teams to ensure projects stay aligned with business goals and create measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take end-to-end accountability for project execution, from kickoff to closeout, with ownership of scope, budget, quality, and customer results.
  • Convert use-case goals into measurable business KPIs and run value-realization workshops to define baselines and track impact.
  • Create and maintain detailed project plans covering scope, timeline, staffing, budget, risks, and quality controls.
  • Coordinate complex integrations between OT and IT data sources while using agile practices and keeping stakeholders actively engaged.
  • Make sure delivery supports the customer’s strategic goals, such as operational excellence, safety, sustainability, or cost reduction.
  • Keep Account Executives, Customer Business Executives, and other stakeholders informed about progress, risks, scope, and financial status.
  • Work with the Product team when customer commitments include product features or capabilities, and escalate gaps through the proper governance path.
  • Track bookings, revenue recognition, costs, margin, and forecasts, and report financial performance clearly to the Portfolio Manager.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact during execution, including governance routines, steering committee meetings, and executive updates.
  • Manage customer satisfaction, vendor coordination, process documentation, and change-management activities such as training and adoption support.
  • Act as the link between clients and internal teams such as Engineering, Product, and Customer Success, resolving issues and managing expectations.
  • Identify potential expansion opportunities by understanding customer challenges and coordinating with the right internal stakeholders.
  • Use Cognite PMO playbooks and best practices while helping improve future delivery through lessons learned and process refinement.

What Success Looks Like

The company values proven outcomes more than years on paper. Success in this role means showing measurable value creation, strong customer focus, reliable delivery, and the ability to lead without formal authority across technical and business teams.

  • Link deliverables directly to business benefits and report KPI-driven results that build trust with customers.
  • Keep projects on schedule and within budget while managing complex integrations and fast-moving stakeholder environments.
  • Influence diverse stakeholders toward common outcomes through clear communication and leadership.
  • Capture lessons learned, seek feedback, and improve processes for future projects.
  • Represent the company’s values of Impact, Ownership, and Relentlessness in collaboration and customer delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business, or a closely related discipline.
  • Previous experience in the software industry.
  • At least 5 years of project management experience in SaaS, cloud, or enterprise software delivery, ideally with complex industrial or enterprise IT/AI programs.
  • Hands-on experience across the SaaS implementation lifecycle, including onboarding, training, and change management.
  • Proven success managing multi-stakeholder projects in fast-paced environments and leading cross-functional teams such as data scientists, engineers, and solution architects.
  • Strong understanding of industrial sectors such as energy, manufacturing, chemicals, oil and gas, life sciences, utilities/power, and renewables.
  • Solid financial understanding, including project realization tracking and forecasting.
  • Practical knowledge of Agile/Scrum and familiarity with PMO methods such as PMP or PRINCE2.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of tools like Jira, Confluence, MS Project, or Smartsheet.
  • Fluency in English and German.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for client-facing work.

Preferred Experience

  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum.
  • Exposure to data platforms, cloud infrastructure such as Azure or AWS, or industrial IoT.
  • Background in data engineering, analytics, AI, or machine learning projects.
