Job description
Role Overview
This role is for an experienced Project Manager / PMO to oversee and coordinate technology-led initiatives. The position calls for strong project leadership, practical knowledge of technology project delivery, and prior exposure to the financial services sector. Ability to communicate in Japanese will be an added advantage.
Work Location and Schedule
The job is based in Chennai at Ramanujam IT Park, Tharamani. This is a strictly on-site position with no hybrid option. Working days are Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

What You Will Handle
- Drive projects from initiation through delivery, making sure timelines, scope, and budget targets are met.
- Create and maintain project plans, schedules, risk logs, and progress updates.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership to keep execution on track.
- Track project performance and take early action to reduce risks and resolve issues.
- Run governance forums, steering meetings, and regular project review sessions.
- Ensure projects follow the right methods, standards, and delivery practices.
- Prepare dashboards, key metrics, and senior-management reports.
- Support PMO improvements and internal process enhancements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to meet project and business objectives.
Required Background
The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline, and bring 8 to 12 years of experience in Project Management and/or PMO work. A strong grasp of SDLC, IT project delivery, multi-project coordination, and stakeholder management is essential. Candidates should also have solid communication, coordination, leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, along with hands-on experience using tools such as MS Project, Jira, Confluence, Excel, or similar platforms.
Preferred Experience
Prior work in Financial Services, Banking, or Insurance will be an advantage. Certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or Scrum Master are desirable. Experience in global or multicultural settings is also preferred. Japanese speaking and communication skills, especially with JLPT certification, will be considered a strong plus.
Additional Skills
Core strengths needed for this role include project governance, resource planning, Agile and Waterfall delivery, technology project management, financial domain understanding, and Japanese communication skills.
