Job description

About Greenco

Greenco is a renewable energy business that began in 2018 and has been steadily expanding its work across Ireland. The company focuses on the operation, maintenance, and construction of solar energy projects, including utility-scale solar farms and commercial rooftop systems. Its project work also covers the development and build phase of solar farms, generally in the 5MW to 10MW range.

Role Overview

Greenco is looking for an experienced, hands-on Project Manager based in Galway to help lead its growing portfolio. This position calls for someone who can take ownership of projects from early planning through final delivery, bringing a practical approach, strong engineering knowledge, and the ability to keep teams aligned on safety, quality, schedule, and cost.

The role spans both operational and construction work across several renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

You will oversee the full lifecycle of solar farm and commercial rooftop solar projects, ensuring smooth execution at every stage. The role includes coordinating on-site activity, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams, while also guiding project teams to meet key milestones and deadlines.

You will be expected to track budgets closely, manage costs, and look for efficiency gains without compromising delivery standards. A major part of the job is maintaining strong health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across all projects.

Additional duties include supervising plant, equipment, and heavy machinery operations on site, working with clients, landowners, contractors, ESB Networks, and other stakeholders, and supporting the operation and maintenance of existing solar assets. You will also prepare reports, schedules, risk assessments, and progress updates, with a consistent focus on safe delivery, timely completion, and budget control.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering and a solid practical engineering background with direct on-site project delivery experience. You should have managed construction, infrastructure, civil engineering, electrical, or renewable energy projects and be comfortable working with heavy machinery and site operations.

Strong leadership ability, commercial awareness, and experience managing budgets and cost tracking are important, along with excellent communication and organisational skills. A full clean driving licence is required, and applicants should have a genuine interest in renewable energy and the energy transition.

Preferred Experience

It would be an advantage to have a background in Civil Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering, along with experience in solar, renewable energy, utilities, or infrastructure projects. Familiarity with solar farm construction and operations, project management certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or similar, and experience coordinating subcontractors and multiple workstreams will also be beneficial.

What Greenco Offers

This role offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to Ireland’s expanding renewable energy sector while working on a varied mix of construction and operations projects. Greenco provides opportunities for career growth within a company that is continuing to scale, along with a competitive salary package aligned to experience. The environment is described as collaborative, ambitious, and practical.
