Key duties
- Provide advice on contractual issues at both project and general level
- Handle contractual claims and maintain the supporting records
- Identify ways to improve revenue, control costs, and investigate losses
- Support project cash flow and cash management activities
- Assist with project-related correspondence and commercial communications
- Negotiate and agree subcontractor arrangements
- Discuss and finalise subcontractor and supplier pricing and terms
- Ensure final accounts are completed promptly
- Draft commercial and contractual correspondence in a timely manner
- Prepare subcontract and supplier documentation
- Compile and review monthly cost reports
- Review and update risk registers, variation trackers, and extension-of-time trackers each month, and include them in reporting
- Negotiate final accounts with subcontractors and suppliers
- Measure and price variations
- Negotiate variations with clients, quantity surveyors, and subcontractors
What the role requires
- A professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
- Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor on medium- or large-scale construction projects
- Confidence working on large, high-headcount construction sites with subcontractors
- Ability to work with the Commercial Manager and Contracts Manager when dealing with internal stakeholders and client representatives, including attending meetings on site
- Strong time-management skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Good understanding of the construction industry and site-based working
- The ability to work efficiently, stay productive, and meet demanding goals
