Job description

About the role

TasNetworks is looking for a seasoned Project Scheduler to support the North West Transmission Developments (NWTD) program. The position plays a key part in keeping this large-scale project on schedule by owning planning, scheduling, and performance-management activities. You will act as the go-to specialist for schedule development, progress tracking and reporting, schedule assurance, earned value management, and integrated project controls.

You will partner with Project Controls, Commercial, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and the EPC contractor to develop and maintain robust project schedules, baseline schedules, the basis of schedule, and scheduling frameworks. Your analysis will help guide decisions, highlight risks, and keep delivery aligned to approved plans, budget, and timelines.

This opportunity suits someone who likes structure, detailed analysis, and working in a fast-moving major project environment.

Key responsibilities

Build and maintain project schedules, including baselines, critical path analysis, and plans loaded with resources and costs.

Create and manage WBS and CBS structures with Construction, Commercial, Project Controls, and contractor teams.

Set up progress-measurement methods such as Rules of Credit, S-curves, and performance dashboards.

Drive earned value management, including SPI, CPI, and variance analysis.

Help maintain integrated project controls so that cost, schedule, and physical progress stay aligned.

Prepare reporting, analysis, and insights for weekly, monthly, and executive updates.

Assist with change and risk management, including schedule impact assessments.

Work with internal stakeholders and external partners such as the EPC contractor and engineering, procurement, and construction teams.

Develop metrics and presentation material for the Project Leadership Team, Executive team, and Board.

Step in to support other Project Controls team members when needed.

About you

You are an experienced project controls or scheduling professional with strong capability in planning, scheduling, and earned value management in major infrastructure, EPC, or capital works settings. You understand the relationship between scope, cost, schedule, and risk, and can confidently work through technical documents, commercial structures, and contract terms.

You take a methodical, analytical approach and enjoy building frameworks, processes, and tools that improve project performance. You are comfortable collaborating across disciplines, influencing stakeholders, and presenting information to senior leaders. You perform well in complex project settings where accuracy, speed, governance, assurance, and proactive problem-solving are essential.

What you will bring

A qualification in project management, engineering, commerce, or a similar discipline.

Strong knowledge of project controls good practice, including AACE frameworks and recommended practices.

AACE Project Scheduling Professional (PSP) certification is preferred.

Hands-on experience with CPM scheduling and schedules loaded with resources and costs.

Practical exposure to EVM, including SPI, CPI, and variance analysis.

Ability to read and interpret technical and commercial documentation.

Experience using Primavera P6, InEight, SAP, or comparable tools.

Advanced Excel capability and strong data visualisation skills.

Experience with QRA and Monte Carlo simulation.

Excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder engagement ability.

Ability to juggle competing priorities in a major project environment.
