Role overview
The Purchasing Manager will oversee procurement activities for projects, business units, and management, ensuring internal teams and external customers receive the goods and services they need on time and in line with business requirements.
Location: Jordan
Key responsibilities
- Lead supplier strategy by identifying, evaluating, qualifying, and negotiating with vendors, and managing related contracts.
- Keep current on KSA customs and clearance rules, administrative procedures, and legal requirements relevant to purchasing goods.
- Coordinate with support teams to make sure procurement needs are fulfilled effectively.
- Examine and approve comparison sheets within assigned approval authority.
- Negotiate, execute, and oversee contracts and purchase orders for materials and services within authorization limits.
- Prepare and support pre-negotiation work for contracts and orders that exceed delegated authority.
- Track market developments, pricing, delivery terms, and supply trends to assess availability now and in the future.
- Build and maintain a strong base of suppliers and logistics providers to support present and future operational needs.
- Review purchase request and purchase order status reports and act quickly to resolve any potential issues.
- Draft contract documents in coordination with the Legal Advisor.
- Set annual supply chain objectives and goals and submit them for Executive Manager Supply Chain approval.
- Monitor performance against targets regularly and report outcomes to senior management.
- Approve and manage staff training matters.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline is required.
- At least 10 years of procurement experience in a technical environment, ideally in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
- Good knowledge of international procurement procedures and Incoterms.
- Background in drafting and handling service contracts, with awareness of tax and legal effects.
- Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
- Comfortable using ERP and procurement software.
