Job description
Role overview
An established food manufacturing business in Athy, County Kildare is looking for an experienced Quality Control Technician to join its growing quality team. The site produces juice powders, flavourings, and ingredient solutions for major food and beverage customers.
The role supports laboratory-based quality checks, raw material release decisions, product testing, and manufacturing trials within a fast-moving production environment.
Core duties
- Carry out routine QC laboratory tests such as Brix, pH, turbidity, and other wet chemistry analyses.
- Assess incoming raw materials and completed products against defined specifications.
- Keep laboratory documentation accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Assist with compliance activities linked to HACCP, GMP, and GLP.
- Support calibration tasks and basic upkeep of laboratory instruments.
- Track retained samples, certificates of analysis, and lab stock/inventory.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement efforts within the quality control function.
Candidate requirements
The employer is seeking someone with a degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Quality, or a closely related field, along with at least 2 years of hands-on wet chemistry or bench testing experience in food, beverage, manufacturing, or laboratory settings.
Strong accuracy, clear record-keeping, good communication, and solid computer skills are important. A proactive attitude and willingness to learn are also expected.
Candidates should also be based within a practical commuting distance of Athy, roughly no more than 40 minutes away.
