Role overview
This position supports quality assurance across incoming material checks, in-process verification, and final inspection for Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) parts and assemblies. The role also covers control of calibration for inspection and measurement instruments to help ensure alignment with company and industry quality expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Check raw materials and machined parts for dimensions and visual quality when they are received.
- Review supporting quality documents such as material test certificates, certificates of conformity, and inspection reports to confirm compliance.
- Carry out inspections during machining and assembly stages to verify adherence to drawings and specifications.
- Examine precision-critical areas including impeller/diffuser clearances, stack lengths, rotor fits, keyways, and other tolerance-sensitive features.
- Record and validate first article inspection results in line with control plan requirements.
- Assist assembly and testing activities by inspecting sub-assemblies and completed ESP pump units.
- Confirm cleanliness, identification marking, and serialization before final release.
- Perform final inspection of finished units and check conformity to inspection and test plans.
- Identify non-conforming items, report issues, and support root-cause analysis and containment actions.
- Keep inspection records accurate and maintain full traceability of all inspected items.
- Track calibration due dates for inspection, measuring, and test equipment.
- Arrange internal or external calibration activities and ensure current calibration certificates are available.
- Confirm that measuring instruments are in calibration before use and stored correctly after use.
- Support internal and external audits by providing inspection records, calibration logs, and traceability documents.
- Work with production, engineering, and quality teams to solve quality problems and improve processes.
Requirements
- Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in quality inspection, preferably in ESP manufacturing or a similar rotating equipment environment.
- Hands-on ability to use calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and thread gauges.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T.
- Basic knowledge of ISO 9001, API Q1, and other relevant oil and gas manufacturing standards.
- Knowledge of calibration systems and measurement traceability.
- Good written and spoken English communication skills.
- Solid understanding of ISO 9001 QMS requirements and implementation.
- Comfortable using computers for documentation and records.
- Exposure to non-destructive equipment/testing methods is an advantage.
