Job description

Role Overview

This position is for a Quality Control Inspector supporting QA/QC activities within a threading and machining facility that produces machine components. The role focuses on inspection, quality documentation, and general organizational support to help maintain efficient, reliable operations.

What You Will Do

  • Check incoming materials against specifications and confirm they meet requirements.
  • Inspect threaded connections and parts, ensuring a 10% sample from each batch matches the drawing.
  • Approve or reject machined and finished components based on quality standards.
  • Support machinists with quality-related technical concerns.
  • Work in line with applicable standards, procedures, and quality specifications.
  • Coordinate qualification or requalification of premium connections and manage validation control for those connections.
  • Use the GP portal for job approvals, electronic procurement forms, and calibration requests.
  • Prepare and update daily activity records and related paperwork.
  • Carry out other reasonable tasks assigned by the Operations Supervisor.
  • Check phosphate connections according to work instructions and procedures, ensuring the phosphate process remains under control.
  • Complete daily titration work as required by the work instruction and procedure.
  • Make sure phosphate operators understand and follow the complete process, and provide support where needed.
  • Verify parts and work orders accurately, help identify causes of defective materials or assemblies, and support daily shop, assembly, and department activities, including training other staff when requested by management.
  • Manage the calibration cycle, including gauge and instrument calibration and review of calibration certificates.
  • Review material test certificates for purchased and customer-provided materials.
  • Provide customers with drawings for manufactured products.
  • Review each work order and its specifications before execution.
  • Conduct final inspection of serviced items and issue certificates of conformity.
  • Keep the tubular tracking sheet accurate, current, and properly maintained.
  • Ensure quality records are complete, well organized, and maintained to a high standard.

Requirements

  • High school education or an equivalent qualification is required; a diploma or engineering degree is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in inspection of rotary shoulder connections such as API, Grant Prideco, and Tenaris, particularly for drill pipe, HWDP, drill collars, and drill stem components, or similar experience.
  • Strong English communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Solid technical understanding of machine shop operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications aligned with API, Grant Prideco, DS1, VAM, and similar standards.
