Job description
Job Summary
We are looking for an R&D Engineer focused on material testing to strengthen an innovation-driven research and development team. The position calls for solid hands-on knowledge of metallography and material characterization, along with the ability to use advanced analysis methods to support materials research initiatives. This role plays an important part in progressing material science through careful testing, interpretation, and insight-led decision-making. It also offers the chance to contribute directly to cutting-edge research work in a collaborative R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare metallographic samples and carry out material characterization to study microstructure, phase distribution, and other important material properties.
- Analyze coatings to determine thickness, composition, consistency, and overall performance across different materials.
- Apply techniques such as X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), and Optical Microscopy for detailed material evaluation.
- Review test data and document results in technical reports, including observed trends and practical recommendations.
- Work with R&D and engineering teams to provide technical input that supports material innovation and product development efforts.
- Maintain accuracy and repeatability of results by handling calibration, upkeep, and optimization of laboratory equipment and procedures.
- Visit project locations or customer sites when required to conduct on-site analysis, consultation, and troubleshooting.

This is a full-time, onsite role based in Chorasi, Gujarat, India. The position is with Larsen & Toubro.
