Job description
About the Role
Trove is expanding and needs a dependable HR partner to help keep people operations organized, compliant, and welcoming for new team members. This is a flexible fractional HR position suited to someone who can step in on demand and support leadership with day-to-day HR needs.
You will work remotely and should ideally be based in the United States for compliance reasons. The arrangement is hourly and contract-based, with workload changing depending on hiring activity and ongoing HR priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the administrative side of onboarding and offboarding, including forms, account setup, and new-hire communication.
- Oversee compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment rules, including requirements tied to distributed teams across multiple states.
- Keep employee handbook content and internal HR policies updated, clear, and legally appropriate.
- Maintain secure and accurate employee records, support background screening workflows, and help address benefits enrollment questions when needed.
- Serve as a practical point of contact for HR-related employee concerns and advise leadership on sound HR practices.
Ideal Background
The company is looking for a mid-level HR professional with several years of experience, preferably someone who has handled generalist or HR manager responsibilities in a startup or small-to-mid-sized business environment.
Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law is important, especially in the context of remote teams operating across different states. Experience with Gusto is highly valued, particularly for onboarding, payroll, and benefits administration.
The right person should be able to work independently, identify process gaps, propose improvements, and put solutions into practice without much supervision. Comfort with HR systems, remote-work tools, and digital documentation is also expected, along with clear, empathetic communication.
Engagement Details
This is a highly flexible hourly engagement. Time is tracked and billed according to active projects, hiring volume, and periodic compliance checks.
Compensation is set at $75 to $125 per hour, depending on experience and usual consulting rate.
