Role overview
You’ll create a set of 20 to 30 line-based dog illustrations for a practical handbook aimed at everyday dog owners. The artwork needs to be both visually appealing and anatomically precise, helping explain topics such as daily routines, canine body language, enrichment activities, and reference charts.
The project is fully remote and supports a handbook built around positive reinforcement, science-led training, and a compassionate, fear-free approach to dog care.
Responsibilities
- Develop 20 to 30 clean, expressive dog illustrations with strong anatomical accuracy and personality.
- Work with the handbook author so the visuals match the book’s positive, evidence-based message.
- Turn written material into clear illustrations covering routines, body language, enrichment ideas, and reference charts.
- Update artwork as needed based on review comments to keep style and clarity consistent throughout.
- Provide high-resolution digital artwork ready for both print and digital use.
- Track deadlines and keep communication flowing while working remotely.
Requirements
- Proven background in anatomical illustration, ideally for animals or dogs.
- A portfolio that shows strong line work and the ability to express movement, character, and emotion.
- Comfort with positive reinforcement and fear-free training concepts is a strong advantage.
- Ability to convert scientific and behavioural ideas into visuals that a general audience can easily understand.
- Working knowledge of digital illustration software such as Adobe Illustrator, Procreate, or similar tools.
- Good communication skills and a responsive approach in a remote freelance setup.
- Ability to work independently and handle several rounds of revisions.
- Immediate availability and willingness to follow the project schedule.
