What This Opportunity Involves

While each project involves unique tasks, contributors may be responsible for designing original optics problems that simulate real physics research workflows. This includes ensuring problems are computationally intensive and cannot be solved manually within reasonable timeframes. You will develop problems requiring non-trivial reasoning chains in mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics, basing them on real research challenges or practical applications from optics and physics practice. Clear documentation of problem statements and verified correct answers are essential.

What We Look For

This opportunity is ideal for physicists interested in part-time, non-permanent projects. Candidates should ideally possess a degree in Physics (Theoretical, Experimental, or Computational) or related fields, with at least 2 years of professional experience, which can include applied, research, or teaching experience. Experience with numerical simulation methods is required, along with the ability to design problems that mirror real physics research workflows. Creative thinking in problem design across diverse physics areas, familiarity with physics modeling and approximation techniques, and strong written English (C1+) are also important.

Project Time Expectations

For this specific project, tasks are estimated to require approximately 10-20 hours per week during active phases, depending on project requirements. This is an estimate and not a guaranteed workload, applicable only while the project is active.

Compensation

On this project, contributors can earn up to the equivalent of $45 per hour, based on their skill level and contribution pace. Please note that compensation varies across different projects on the platform, depending on their scope, complexity, and the expertise required.
