About the Role

The Australian Mining Review (AMR) is a leading publication and media platform for Australia’s mining industry. The business is growing its commercial team and is seeking a motivated Sales Development Representative to support new business growth. This position suits someone who enjoys prospecting, speaking with people, and taking the initiative to create opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the mining supplier market.
  • Research prospects and engage them through proactive outreach.
  • Run outbound calling campaigns with confidence, energy, and a strong commercial mindset.
  • Book discovery conversations, uncover client needs, and match AMR’s solutions to those needs.
  • Manage a healthy pipeline in HubSpot and keep records of activity and communication accurate.
  • Draft customised proposals and advertising suggestions tailored to client requirements.
  • Follow up on prospects promptly and persistently to improve conversion outcomes.
  • Reconnect with inactive and past clients through structured outreach efforts.
  • Identify why previous opportunities did not convert and turn those learnings into new possibilities.
  • Present refreshed product options, value propositions, and campaign ideas.
  • Coordinate with Account Managers and Editorial so campaigns align with upcoming features, categories, and content schedules.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings, pipeline reviews, and sales planning discussions.

What We’re Looking For

  • A high-energy, curious, and ambitious person who genuinely enjoys sales.
  • A candidate with a strong work ethic and the right attitude; prior sales experience is not essential.
  • Comfort with phone-based outreach, including cold calling and discovery conversations.
  • Strong enthusiasm, resilience, and a proactive approach to daily work.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to adapt messaging for different types of prospects, from local suppliers to national contractors.
  • Excellent organisation and consistency when handling follow-ups, proposals, and pipeline management.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to explain value in a persuasive way.
  • Openness to coaching, feedback, and teamwork.
  • Interest in mining and B2B media, with a willingness to learn the industry.

Additional Information

This is an on-site full-time role based in Perth, Western Australia, Australia.

No prior experience in the mining sector is required, but a genuine interest in learning about the industry is important.
