Role Summary
The SAP Project Manager is accountable for delivering SAP programs from start to finish, with responsibility for timelines, budget control, and quality outcomes. This position owns project governance, delivery planning, and execution under SAP Activate, while keeping the work aligned with contract scope, milestones, and acceptance criteria.
As the single point of accountability for the program, the project manager leads cross-functional SAP teams covering functional, technical, data, integration, and Basis workstreams. The role also manages dependencies, risks, and changes throughout the lifecycle, and oversees design, build, testing, cutover, go-live, and the transition into production and hypercare support.
Senior stakeholder management is a major part of the job, including executive reporting and steering committee leadership to help drive timely decisions. Strong knowledge of SAP landscapes, disciplined delivery governance, and confident client-facing leadership are essential for reducing risk, maintaining compliance with SAP and internal standards, and delivering successful business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of SAP programs and ensure performance against schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
- Own project governance, planning, and execution in line with SAP Activate practices.
- Keep delivery aligned with contractual scope, milestones, and formal acceptance requirements.
- Act as the primary accountable leader for overall program results.
- Coordinate functional, technical, data, integration, and Basis teams across the project lifecycle.
- Track and manage project dependencies, risks, issues, and change requests.
- Oversee solution design, build, testing, cutover, go-live, and hypercare readiness.
- Maintain effective issue resolution and ensure deliverables meet required standards.
- Manage senior client and internal stakeholder relationships.
- Prepare executive-level reporting and lead steering committee discussions.
- Support decision-making and help mitigate delivery and compliance risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- Proven track record of leading multiple full lifecycle SAP implementations such as ECC and S/4HANA.
- Strong functional and/or technical depth across several SAP modules.
- Solid understanding of SAP S/4HANA capabilities, migration approaches, and roadmap considerations.
- Hands-on experience with RISE with SAP and cloud-hosted SAP environments.
- Exposure to large enterprise or government programs.
- SAP certifications in Activate or Agile.
- Project management certification such as PMP or PRINCE2.
- Experience managing system integrators and working directly with SAP.
- Ability to work in Arabic is preferred.
- Experience delivering projects in MEA countries, especially KSA and the UAE, is preferred.
- Background in oil and gas or public sector engagements is preferred.
