Role overview

Guidepost Montessori is seeking an accomplished campus leader to serve as Head of School (School Director) in the Sydney, New South Wales area. The organisation is focused on expanding authentic Montessori education and building learning environments that develop independence, competence, and initiative in children.

In this role, you will lead the whole campus team and help drive growth in enrollment, staff retention, parent engagement, and program quality. The position calls for a leader who is committed to the Montessori approach and able to balance educational excellence with operational and financial accountability.

What you'll do

  • Shape and execute a strategic plan for the campus.
  • Build a school culture that reflects the organisation’s mission and values.
  • Create a connected community among staff, families, and children.
  • Maintain a high-standard educational program across classrooms.
  • Support profitability goals by overseeing the campus budget and financial performance.
  • Partner with the Assistant Head of School to achieve enrollment targets.
  • Recruit, coach, develop, and manage teaching staff.

Who this role suits

This opportunity is designed for a leader with qualifications recognised by the state, prior leadership experience in early childhood education, and a strong interest in delivering education through Montessori pedagogy. The ideal candidate will be organised, detail-oriented, persuasive in communication, and comfortable making decisions in situations where information may be limited.

Preferred background

  • Hands-on experience in an early childhood teaching environment.
  • Prior service as an Admissions, Administrative, Program, or School Director in a preschool setting.
  • Exposure to the Montessori method or a Montessori certification.
