About the Business
Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) is a new greenfield initiative from the Tata Group focused on manufacturing precision components. Backed by Tata Sons, the company is developing India’s first AI-enabled, advanced semiconductor foundry. The facility is designed to manufacture chips for applications including power management ICs, display drivers, microcontrollers (MCUs), and high-performance computing logic, serving demand across automotive, computing and data storage, wireless communications, and artificial intelligence. Tata Electronics is part of the wider Tata Group, which operates in more than 100 countries across six continents and is guided by a mission to improve the quality of life of communities through long-term value creation built on trust and leadership.
Role Overview
This role is focused on procurement operations and end-to-end purchase order execution in a fast-moving semiconductor manufacturing environment. The position requires close coordination with suppliers, finance, accounts payable, and cross-functional internal teams to ensure material availability, timely deliveries, and smooth procure-to-pay processes.
Purchase Order Management
- Check purchase requests for completeness and accuracy, including technical details, pricing, quantities, and required delivery dates.
- Raise, issue, and track purchase orders in SAP/Ariba while staying aligned with company procurement policies and procedures.
- Oversee the full purchase order journey, from approvals and amendments to confirmation, goods receipt follow-up, and final closure.
- Keep a close watch on pending orders and actively follow up on delivery commitments to reduce the risk of supply interruptions.
Supplier Management
- Work with suppliers to manage shipment schedules, address supply shortages, and reduce risks that could affect production.
- Handle discussions with suppliers around delivery promises, payment conditions, order priority, and expediting needs.
- Respond quickly and with urgency to meet the demanding requirements of a semiconductor fabrication setup.
- Coordinate with suppliers, accounts payable, and finance to close invoice mismatches, payment blocks, and goods receipt-related issues.
- Assist with supplier performance reviews by monitoring key metrics and driving corrective actions where needed.
- Manage supplier agreements and ensure adherence to contract terms, service-level commitments, and warranty obligations.
Analytics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Measure and review procurement indicators such as on-time delivery, supplier responsiveness, and order cycle time.
- Escalate and expedite urgent deliveries and explore alternate sourcing options to avoid downtime in production.
- Investigate root causes behind procurement and supply chain issues and implement corrective measures.
- Spot bottlenecks in the procure-to-pay process and lead improvement efforts to make operations more efficient.
- Prepare regular reports and dashboards for management and stakeholder reviews.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with manufacturing, equipment engineering, planning, logistics, finance, and operations teams to maintain uninterrupted material flow.
- Support the introduction of new materials, engineering changes, and critical project needs through structured procurement planning.
- Align purchasing priorities with business goals and production requirements by coordinating effectively with internal stakeholders.
Mandatory Skills and Experience
The role calls for a strong understanding of procure-to-pay practices and modern procurement workflows, along with hands-on exposure to SAP MM, Ariba, or similar ERP tools. Candidates should have proven experience in purchase order handling, delivery follow-up, and supplier expediting. Prior work with accounts payable and finance teams to resolve invoice and payment issues is essential. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, stakeholder coordination, communication, and negotiation skills are also required.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should bring 4 to 7 years of experience in procurement and supply chain operations, with solid knowledge of sourcing raw materials, tools, and equipment. Practical exposure to procure-to-pay operations and vendor management is needed. Proficiency in SAP MM, Ariba, and other procurement or ERP platforms is important. A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Experience in semiconductor manufacturing is strongly preferred.
Preferred Skills
Additional advantages include familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing processes and related supply chain needs, procurement of items such as tools, equipment, chemicals, gases, sputtering targets, and quartz components, understanding of MRP execution and inventory planning, exposure to international procurement and trade compliance, and experience working with equipment engineers and other technical stakeholders in a manufacturing setting.
