Role overview
This position is part of the Completions (Fabrication) function and focuses on driving mechanical completion work to a high standard. The role uses practical and technical expertise to improve internal processes, support less-experienced colleagues, and solve discipline-specific challenges. It also contributes to a range of project and operational activities while ensuring work follows the right policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Key responsibilities
- Assess the project scope of work, specifications, and related documents to plan mechanical completion execution.
- Arrange suitably qualified engineers and supervisors to support completion activities.
- Identify the equipment, tools, and consumables needed for completion work.
- Work with the Fabrication Coordinator on schedules and any possible cost consequences.
- Coordinate with HSE officers to implement task risk assessments.
- Request manpower, materials, and required procedures for completion tasks.
- Prepare and track the Mechanical Completion Inspection and Test Records needed in PIMS.
- Oversee mechanical completion discipline engineers.
- Develop execution plans and completion strategies.
- Create general procedures for mechanical completion activities.
- Set the budget and estimate person-hours for completion work.
- Define system boundaries and limits.
- Prepare the Mechanical Completion Management System.
- Promote engineering policies and yard procedures and contribute to process improvements.
- Support the engineering team with bid inputs and historical project data.
- Take part in training sessions and provide feedback or improvement suggestions when needed.
Qualifications and experience
The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably. A minimum of 8 years of experience in hookup and commissioning work within the offshore oil and gas sector is expected, including exposure to the PIMS completion management system, punch lists, preservation management, and handover activities. The role also requires experience coordinating with EPCs, clients, vendors, subcontractors, and fabrication teams to secure system completion certificates and achieve handover. Strong adherence to safe working practices, quality standards, productivity expectations, and business conduct policies is essential.
