About Envato

Envato helps creative professionals do their best work by giving them access to a broad set of assets, AI-powered tools, and practical learning resources. The company is focused on supporting today’s creative workflows while continuing to build for the future as AI changes the industry.

Envato operates with a flexible, inclusive approach and values a connected culture across its global team. Its guiding principles are Customer First, Build our Future, Make it Happen, and Embrace Diversity. The company also notes its 2024 acquisition by Shutterstock Inc.

About the Role

The Senior CRM Manager will lead Envato’s CRM and lifecycle marketing direction, with particular responsibility for improving email performance and customer engagement. This position owns the full CRM content strategy, from segmentation and planning through execution and optimisation, with a strong emphasis on customer needs and measurable outcomes.

In this people-leadership role, you will guide and grow a team of CRM specialists while working closely with other teams to create personalised customer experiences that have real impact. The role also contributes to Envato’s wider marketing and growth goals through strategic thinking and technical depth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of CRM specialists, encouraging accountability, collaboration, and strong performance.
  • Own the email marketing calendar and ensure it stays aligned with product, brand, and commercial priorities.
  • Build and implement CRM and lifecycle programs that support acquisition, activation, and retention goals.
  • Create and refine segmentation approaches that enable relevant, personalised communication.
  • Oversee CRM campaigns across the full customer journey, from planning through ongoing optimisation.
  • Improve CRM workflows and operating processes to increase efficiency, scale, and business impact.
  • Use AI, automation, and new technologies to strengthen personalisation, testing, and operational effectiveness.
  • Work with Iterable and similar platforms to deliver automated, technically sound lifecycle campaigns.
  • Review campaign and customer data to identify trends, surface insights, and guide improvements.
  • Partner with Research to better understand customer behaviour, engagement drivers, and motivations.
  • Coordinate with Brand to make sure messaging, tone, and creative execution meet brand standards.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product, Tech, and Customer Success to keep CRM activity aligned with broader business priorities.
  • Apply strong email marketing practices covering deliverability, compliance, experimentation, and optimisation.
  • Contribute to senior-level marketing planning and strategic discussion within the marketing function.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in CRM and lifecycle marketing, especially in email marketing.
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams with strong attention to detail.
  • Deep knowledge of email marketing fundamentals, including segmentation, automation, testing, and optimisation.
  • Practical experience with Iterable or comparable marketing automation tools, along with strong CRM technical capability.
  • Strong analytical ability and confidence turning data into clear, useful actions.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to produce persuasive, customer-focused copy.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working across Marketing, Product, and Customer Success.
  • Experience using AI and automation to improve performance, scale, and personalisation in CRM programs.
  • Ability to evaluate current processes, identify improvements, and drive innovation continuously.
  • Solid understanding of data privacy and marketing compliance requirements, including the SPAM Act and GDPR.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in a global, digital, or subscription-based business.
  • Familiarity with customer research methods and using those insights to shape lifecycle strategy.
  • Understanding of CDPs, including data unification and audience segmentation.
  • Experience contributing to broader marketing strategy and planning at a senior level.

Work Style and Benefits

  • Remote-first working arrangement across Australia or New Zealand, with flexibility to balance work and life.
  • Option to work from another location for up to 3 months per calendar year.
  • Annual connection budget to meet and spend time with the team in person when possible.
  • Learning support that includes study leave and an annual development budget.
  • Home office allowance, including support for setup and a monthly contribution toward working from home costs.
  • Access to a wellbeing program offering support across multiple areas of life and health.
  • 2 days of volunteer leave each calendar year.
  • Parental leave benefits of 20 weeks paid leave for primary carers and 6 weeks paid leave for secondary carers.
