Job description

About the Company

Silent Aire, a Johnson Controls business, develops and manufactures specialised, mission-critical air-handling systems and modular data centre solutions for hyperscale cloud and colocation customers. The company focuses on delivering dependable, scalable, and quickly deployable high-performance products.

Role Overview

This role is for a Senior Electrical Engineer working on advanced liquid-cooled solutions and CDU projects. You will contribute to the electrical and controls design of custom air-handling equipment used in critical environments, partnering with engineering managers, mechanical engineers, and controls specialists.

You will also work with the electrical panel manufacturing team to create tailored panel layouts and accurate technical drawings that convert complex customer needs into safe, reliable, and scalable solutions. Your involvement will span the full project lifecycle, from early concept development through design, manufacturing support, and final documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to large-scale modular liquid-cooled solution and CDU projects.
  • Review project specifications and drawings, and ensure the design meets electrical and controls requirements, relevant standards, and code compliance.
  • Create detailed power distribution schematics using CAD-based tools in line with customer needs and industry rules.
  • Develop controls schematics and electrical/control panel layouts for custom air-handling systems.
  • Use engineering principles and applicable codes to determine correct electrical component sizing.
  • Perform engineering calculations such as MCA, overcurrent protection, and amperage.
  • Choose, evaluate, and define electrical and control components, and prepare accurate bills of materials.
  • Compile submittal packages that include drawings, datasheets, calculations, and product documentation.
  • Coordinate closely with mechanical and controls teams to keep the overall design aligned across disciplines.
  • Offer technical support to internal functions including manufacturing, production, procurement, and field engineering, as well as to customers.
  • Assist with bid preparation by providing technical input and reliable estimating support.

Requirements

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering (BSc Eng or B.Eng.) or an Electrical Engineering technical diploma.
  • At least 5 to 7 years of experience in electrical and controls design, preferably within HVAC or a related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and controls components, standards, and code requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and comparable design tools.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to adopt and integrate newer technologies into established systems.
  • Clear communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
  • Strong planning and organisational ability, with the capacity to handle several deadlines at once.
  • A proactive, self-motivated mindset and a commitment to ongoing technical development.
