Job description

About the Role

This position is with Quobly, a startup backed by SGInnovate. You will join a fast-moving environment where research, collaboration, and technical ambition shape the work. The role blends engineering depth with strategic ownership and offers the chance to contribute to cutting-edge quantum technology.

What the Role Offers

  • Ongoing learning and career growth through close work with leading quantum researchers.
  • The opportunity to contribute to high-impact work in a collaborative, trust-based culture where results are recognized.
  • Exposure through presentations and participation in international conferences.
  • A balanced working model with remote work available for up to four days each week, depending on the position, while the office is in Singapore.

Role Summary

The organization is looking for an experienced Quantum Engineer who can contribute at both technical and leadership levels. The role calls for at least 5 years of experience in quantum engineering or a closely related discipline, along with the ability to operate across engineering execution and management responsibilities.

Core Responsibilities

You will work on the development and advancement of spin qubit systems, helping shape experimental methods, technical strategy, and research direction.

  • Address the technical difficulties involved in manipulating spin qubits, including coherent control, calibration, and supporting hardware design.
  • Take a practical, experimental approach to building, testing, and improving procedures.
  • Contribute to the creation of advanced quantum architectures while working within system-level constraints.
  • Help set priorities for innovation, suggest new ideas for calibration, optimization, and testing, and support academic collaborations.
  • Assist in research advancement, scientific publishing, and representation of the company in innovation-focused communities.
  • Lead the implementation, development, and tuning of spin qubit measurement systems.
  • Work with software and electronics specialists to improve experimental setups.
  • Define longer-term scientific questions and supervise PhD researchers working on them.
  • Support the design of new quantum capabilities on processors in coordination with integration and characterization teams.
  • Help shape the scientific plan for scaling to larger qubit counts.
  • Collaborate with the Technology Director and technical teams on the overall technology strategy.
  • Work across integration, software, characterization, and other technical groups in a transparent and autonomous culture.
  • Contribute to industrial partnerships with respected research institutions.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of core physics principles and quantum mechanics.
  • Advanced Python programming and strong expertise in quantum computing.
  • Hands-on capability with FPGA, finite element analysis, and RF technologies.
  • Basic experience with circuit simulation, design of experiments, and PCB design.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and with others in a remote setting.
  • Comfort with leading teams and building strategic partnerships.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
  • A doctorate in Physics, Computer Science, or another relevant quantitative discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in quantum engineering or a related field.

Additional Information

This role combines engineering delivery with management responsibilities. The company values transparency, autonomy, and cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate is expected to help guide research direction, support external partnerships, and contribute to the broader quantum ecosystem.

Application Note

This opportunity is based in Singapore, with remote work flexibility available depending on the role. Interested candidates are expected to apply through the company’s hiring process.
