Job description

About the Company

The company is building an AI-first collaborative workspace designed to bring knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools into one environment so teams can work with more speed, clarity, and less fragmentation. Its platform is used by millions of individuals, small teams, and enterprise customers.

Employees are expected to be hands-on builders who care about quality, durable systems, and the idea that strong work remains deeply human. The team’s broader mission is to define how people collaborate in the AI era, whether that means creating a business’s system of record, developing and managing AI agents, or reducing repetitive work so customers can focus on higher-value outcomes.

About the Role

As a software engineer on the AI team, you will help shape key user experiences and accelerate how people find value in the product. The role offers meaningful ownership, increasing autonomy, and the chance to work on code that reaches a large user base. You will make important technical decisions, contribute your point of view to product direction, and work closely with design, product, and data partners.

This position is for a new graduate AI engineer who will help advance the company’s AI strategy. You will work on AI-driven capabilities using large language models, embeddings, and related technologies to make the product more intelligent and useful.

Potential Team Areas

The role may be assigned to one of several AI-focused teams depending on business needs and team fit. Possible focus areas include:

  • AI product engineering: developing model-powered features end to end, including UX, APIs, retrieval, orchestration, quality, and reliability.
  • Model and systems engineering: improving model integration and performance across latency, cost, safety, and robustness, while building the infrastructure needed for serving models and running experiments.
  • Evaluation and quality: creating evaluation frameworks plus automated and human-in-the-loop testing to measure and improve both model quality and product quality.

What You Will Do

  • Work with your team to prototype and launch an AI-powered product improvement.
  • Take ownership of a focused production project, such as adding a new model or technique to an existing workflow, introducing monitoring and guardrails, or improving latency, cost, or reliability.
  • Support evaluation and iteration cycles by building or expanding evaluation sets, running experiments, reviewing results, and converting insights into product or system improvements.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Must be able to begin full-time work before July 27, 2026.
  • Prior internship experience is required.
  • Developing proficiency in one or more programming languages such as TypeScript, React, or Python.

Skills You Should Bring

  • Ability to build and prototype quickly, with early exposure to AI/ML through coursework, projects, internships, or hackathons.
  • Comfort working across product layers such as UI, APIs, and data, with basic familiarity in relational databases like Postgres or MySQL.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability for breaking down unclear problems into smaller, workable parts.
  • Good judgment around user and business impact when deciding what to build.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including comfort sharing unfinished work and incorporating feedback.
  • Collaborative mindset for working with engineers and cross-functional teammates in product, design, and data.
  • Interest in building the right solution for users rather than only moving quickly.
  • Awareness that product features can reach a very large audience.

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to parts of the technology stack such as React, TypeScript, Node.js, or Postgres.
  • Enjoyment of building software tools and solutions for personal or shared use.
  • Interest in the relationship between technology and society and the responsibilities that come with building technology.
  • Familiarity with pioneers in computing such as Ada Lovelace, Douglas Engelbart, and Alan Kay.

Compensation and Benefits

The company offers competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. Pay is determined by several factors, including location, the scope and complexity of the role, and the candidate’s experience and expertise. For candidates based in San Francisco and New York, the estimated base salary range is USD 126,000 to USD 146,000 per year.

Application and Privacy

By submitting an application, candidates acknowledge that the company and its affiliates will collect and process applicant information in line with its recruiting privacy policy.

AI Approach

The organization expects employees to be curious, experimental, and comfortable using AI as a practical collaborator in day-to-day work. For some positions, AI fluency is explicitly required; when it is essential, that expectation is stated in the qualifications. Team members are expected to use AI to think more effectively and create work that others can build on.

Equal Opportunity and Accommodations

The employer welcomes applicants from many different backgrounds. Candidates are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet every listed requirement. Hiring decisions are made without discrimination based on any legally protected characteristic. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records may be considered where allowed by law.

Reasonable accommodations are available during the hiring process. Applicants who need support because of a disability or disability-related need should inform their recruiter.

The company also affirms its commitment to equal employment opportunity across race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, pregnancy, childbirth, related medical conditions, marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, genetic information, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, and other protected characteristics. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans in the application process.
