Job description

Role overview

The Store Driver supports store operations by transporting parts to professional customers, handling returns, and helping keep the branch organized, safe, and customer-ready. This position also contributes to sales efforts through customer interaction, promotional flyer distribution, and support for upselling and cross-selling.

Key duties

  • Accurately pick, stage, and deliver auto parts to professional customers in a safe manner.
  • Collect returns and cores during deliveries.
  • Distribute weekly and monthly sales flyers and help promote active offers and loyalty programs.
  • Handle daily collection activities for credit accounts.
  • Develop and sustain strong working relationships with MainStreet and National Pro customers, and share delivery-based insights with the CPP.
  • Support selling efforts by suggesting add-on or complementary products to raise average order value.
  • Keep the store clean and presentable, including floors, restrooms, facing, dusting, and the parking lot.
  • Assist with stocking tasks such as truck unloads, back stock organization, and cycle counts.
  • Stay current on inventory and new product arrivals to help support sales.
  • Greet walk-in customers, understand what they need, and recommend suitable parts or services.
  • Complete other assigned duties as needed.

Skills and job competencies

  • English speaking and writing skills; Spanish is an added advantage.
  • Ability to communicate well and build productive relationships with customers, peers, and leaders.
  • Skill in reading safety instructions, operating guides, maintenance documents, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic arithmetic ability, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Flexibility to work various days, evenings, and weekends as required.
  • Confidence when interacting with customers and presenting products.
  • Willingness to learn new products and selling techniques.

Experience and education

Previous automotive parts experience is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. The role also requires a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Physical requirements

The job is primarily performed while walking or standing. The driver must be able to speak and hear, use hands and fingers to handle or feel items, reach with arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequent lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds is required, and on occasion the role may involve lifting or moving up to 100 pounds with assistance. Vision needs include close, distant, color, depth, and focus adjustment abilities.

Work environment

This position is usually performed indoors, but occasional outdoor work is required in varying weather conditions, such as while installing batteries and wiper blades. The role may also involve exposure to moving machinery, elevated areas, chemicals, electrical shock hazards, explosives, and vibration. Noise levels are generally moderate.
