Role overview

This is a permanent full-time support role offering 65+ hours per fortnight in Blenheim. Shifts are rostered across mornings, afternoons, sleepovers, and weekends. Pay ranges from $24.68 to $30.13 per hour, depending on relevant qualifications.

About the role

As a Support Worker, you will help adults with intellectual disabilities live meaningful lives at home and as active members of their community. The role calls for creativity, patience, and a genuine desire to make everyday experiences positive and engaging.

Key duties

  • Encourage greater independence by supporting daily living tasks such as catching public transport and preparing meals.
  • Assist with personal routines, including showering, dressing, and taking medication.
  • Support people to pursue their interests, hobbies, and personal goals.
  • Promote healthy habits and overall wellbeing through practical guidance.
  • Help strengthen relationships with whānau and the wider community.

What the employer is looking for

Experience in health and disability support is not essential. A strong interest in building a career as a Support Worker, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn are valued. Full training and orientation will be provided.

  • Availability for flexible rosters, including weekends and sleepover shifts.
  • Confidence using computers and tablets on a daily basis.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills.
  • Physical capability to provide hands-on support when required.
  • A full New Zealand driver licence is mandatory.
