About the role
This full-time permanent support worker role is based in Rotorua and includes weekend shifts and sleepovers. Alternate weekend availability is essential.
IDEA Services helps people with intellectual disabilities build fulfilling lives in their own homes and within their communities. In this position, you will support clients with intellectual disabilities and complex needs, help them work toward personal goals, and provide safe, respectful, individualised care, including overnight support. The work is varied, meaningful, and suited to someone who can bring creativity, care, and flexibility to each day.
What you'll be responsible for
You will be expected to support people with complex support needs, manage risks, maintain safety, and deliver personal care and overnight assistance. The role also requires working confidently with challenging behaviours and adapting to different situations and routines.
What you will bring
Prior experience in caregiving or adult personal care is preferred. The employer is also looking for someone who has practical life experience, a calm approach, and an open mind. You should be comfortable using computers and tablets every day, communicate clearly in both writing and speech, be physically fit for hands-on support, and hold a full New Zealand driver licence.
What is offered
The hourly pay ranges from $24.68 to $30.13 depending on relevant qualifications, and there is scope to earn more as you gain further qualifications. Support is provided for completing Health and Wellbeing Certificates at Levels 2, 3, and 4. Additional benefits include generous long service leave, insurance cover after two years of service, a refer-a-friend bonus programme, and access to a free Employee Assistance Programme for health and wellbeing support.
