Job description
About the role
This position calls for a commercially minded, self-starting Trading Manager to create and scale a Consumer Goods Trading Division. The role is centered on building a profitable trading business, opening new markets, and forming strong supplier and distribution relationships that support long-term growth.
This is a company-building opportunity rather than a routine procurement or purchasing role. The emphasis is on strategic trading, market expansion, distribution development, and generating sustainable revenue for the business.
Key responsibilities
- Set up the Consumer Goods Trading Division and shape it from the initial stage.
- Spot promising products, brands, and trade opportunities with strong market potential.
- Build partnerships with manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and overseas trading counterparts.
- Negotiate exclusive agency rights, distributorship arrangements, and other strategic alliances.
- Create and execute plans for import, export, wholesale, retail, and distribution activities.
- Grow sales channels, dealer networks, and customer relationships across the market.
- Improve revenue, margins, and overall market share through focused trading initiatives.
- Carry out market studies, competitor reviews, and pricing analysis.
- Lead negotiations on commercial terms, pricing models, and supplier contracts.
- Track industry trends, customer demand, and new business opportunities.
- Prepare business plans, revenue projections, and expansion strategies.
- Guide and develop commercial and trading staff to deliver business targets.
- Share performance updates, opportunities, and strategic recommendations with senior leadership.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Trade, or a closely related discipline.
- 8 to 12 years of experience in Consumer Goods Trading, FMCG Distribution, Import & Export, Wholesale, or Commercial Management.
- A proven history of building, expanding, or managing a successful trading operation or product portfolio.
- Hands-on experience in agency creation, distributorship management, and supplier negotiations.
- Strong ability to create revenue, secure partnerships, and uncover new business opportunities.
- A well-developed network across manufacturers, distributors, retailers, wholesalers, and trading partners.
- Exposure to international sourcing, import/export regulations, and commercial trading processes.
- Strong commercial judgment, financial awareness, analytical ability, and negotiation capability.
- An entrepreneurial approach with the ability to build and scale businesses.
- English fluency is mandatory.
